What Is NINJAGO ?

NINJAGO is one of the latest themes released by LEGO.  Even if it only came out this year, 2011, it is already legendary.   It is actually closely linked to the ninja series as that is where it drew most of its inspiration but with changes and tweaks here and there.  One difference is that this series has gotten rid of Bandits and Shogun and has the Skeleton Army instead.  Also, taking a stab at being more modern, unlike in the Feudal Japan setting, cars, trucks and other vehicles can now be found with these sets.

Introducing the NINJAGO Lighting Dragon Battle

What’s the battle about

Basically, your mission is to rescue Sensei Wu and retrieve the stolen nunchucks of lighting.  The culprits behind this are Frakjaw and Kruncha.  You will use this by using Jay and flying the epic Lighting Dragon as you doge snapping jaws, keep away from helicopters, and steer clear of flick missiles.

Features of the NINJAGO Lighting Dragon Battle

The key piece in the NINJAGO Lighting Dragon Battle set is quite obviously the colossal Lighting Dragon.  This piece when fully put together comes to be an estimated 18 inches tall by 19 inches long.  That is a lot of LEGO for just one dragon.  The entire set does come with 654 LEGO pieces after all.  So the fun will already start even before the battle begins while building the dragon.  The dragon has poseable wings, tail, and limbs so your kid can position him however he pleases.  He can spit lethal lighting balls and snap his jaw for some major crunching action.

The entire set also comes with 4 mini figures. The hero, Jay, the victim, Sensei Wu, and the culprits, Frakjaw and Krucha.  These are the main characters in the story of the war you are about to wage with the underworld.

A battle wouldn’t be complete without weapons.  The NINJAGO Lighting Dragon Battle set comes with two golden spears, two other larger spears, one silver malice, one sword, one gold brocade, one staff, and of course, the pair of missing nunchucks of lighting.

As if all those pieces were not enough, let’s not forget the Helicopter that is about 4 inches wide and 10 inches long.
