Lalaloopsy Dolls - Cute As A Button Dolls For Girls
Lalaloopsy dolls are predicted to be a popular toy or collectible this holiday season.
They are aimed at girls but even adult doll collectors will be charmed by these cute looking dolls. There are 8
different characters to collect to complete the set and they each have their own look and personality. They should
prove to be a popular Christmas toy for kids and adults alike.
A raggedy doll was a toy that your Grandmother may have made for you way back when. It was made with love and
thoughtfulness and often became a little girls best friend that she took with her here, there and everywhere.
Raggedy dolls were generally home made toys using bits and pieces of left over fabric, wool and old buttons for
eyes. The left over fabric and a different set of buttons could give the doll are completely unique look that
couldn't be replicated in some mass produced doll. This was the unique charm of the doll and perhaps explains why
it might be so cherished by a little girl. And after a few years of play, perhaps one of buttons would fall off and
the raggedly doll would look even more adorable in a threadbare sort of way.
It may be kind of ironic, but the Lalaloopsy doll is the toy manufacturers take on the classic old raggedy doll.
Lalaloopsy dolls are 13 inches high (which is quite big, check out the video) and have a soft plastic 'skin'. Each
character has different features and clothing.
In keeping with the make do ethos of the raggedy doll, each character is made from a throw away piece of fabric
(well, her clothing is anyway). And this is where the Lalaloopsy story comes to life so to speak.
Each Lalaloopsy character has a sew date (that's birth date for us humans). She came alive when the final stitch
completed her. And each character has their own type of fabric that created her. This fabric gives her personality.
For instance, Dot Starlight is made from a piece of an astronauts suit (I bet that astronauts not too happy...those
suits a pretty expensive). Consequently she has a love of the stars and is scientifically inclined.
Mittens Fluff n Stuff (another Lalaloopsy character) is made from a piece of an Eskimo scarf. She likes the cold
weather and winter sports (maybe she hunts seals from time to time too and builds igloos).
Each character also has a pet that was made from the same fabric and kind of relates to her personality . So
Mittens Fluff n Stuff has a polar bear pet (maybe it's Knut or one of Knut's buddies). And Dot Starlight has a pet
bird which no doubt tries to fly her to the moon.
All up, there are 8 Lalaloopsy characters and they all have their unique fabric, pet and a sew date. The sew
date also has some bearing on their personalities. For instance, Spot Splatter Splash was made from painters
material and sen together on international painters day. That's not house painters but people that paint for
artistic expression (not that painting a house can't be an artistic expression but you know what I mean).
They are very cute dolls that girls will love to play with. They will also learn from the doll's personality
traits and use these ideas to further their own imagination.
