The LadyBug Smart Trike is smartly designed to be flexible and adaptable to most
situations your infant and toddler will face. In fact, SmartTrike have pretty much thought about everything your
child will need from a tricycle that will be suitable for a 10 months old through to around 2 years of age. It
would make a great Christmas toy for infants and toddlers. The trike was even given a
Right Start Best Toy Award as recognition of the superior design.
So this toy is a basic tricycle that allows your baby to discover his/her new world whilst riding. The tricycle
has a wide rear wheel base that makes it easy to ride and builds up the infants confidence in his/her abilities and
become more aware of the world around him/her.
The trike can be used by infants as young as 10 months old. In this case, a telescopic steering handle can be
fitted behind the seat of the trike. The steering handle allows mom or dad to control the trike when the infant is
seated and pedaling away. There is a clutch mechanism that can switch control of the steering from the infant to
the person with the steering handle. The steering handle is adjustable, meaning that it should be the right size
for people of most heights. Even the old sister or brother can help out with the steering by taking control the the
steering handle at the back.
There are various other components of the trike that will get the most use during this time of your babies
development. For example there is a high chair backrest and a safety bar/seat belt to ensure that the infant cannot
fall from the trike. There are also foot rests so that the babies feet do not have to be put on the pedals when a
parent is pushing the trike.
Other nice touches are a bottle holder and a play phone that the baby can play with as he/she is pushed around.
There is also a sunshade to protect delicate skin and eyes from the suns rays and glare. The manufacturers of the
toy claim that this incarnation of the trike should last an infant from 10 months through to around 24 months
old.
As the infant and parents get more confident in the little one's abilities, the steering handle can be removed.
The toddler can now ride solo so to speak. A great moment that will probably be worthy of a few photographs or
videos. The seat belt and safety railing can be retained, as can any other components of the toy.
But eventually the energetic toddler will want a bit more freedom so that he/she can pedal around at will and
jump on and off the trike. There is also a little bucket on the back that is hinged to the frame of the trike so
that it can be tipped up to remove the contents of the bucket.
The toddler will have plenty of fun transporting his/her favorite toys around on the back of the trike or taking
a favorite cuddly toy for a ride round the garden.
The trike is well constructed to withstand little bumps and scratches that the toddler will inevitably inflict
on it. It is reasonably priced for the quality of the toy and should last your infant for 2 to 3 years of constant
use.
