Hottest Christmas Toys 2011

Just around the start of the Holiday season, many retailers and online e-commerce stores will release their hot 15 or 20 toys for the year. How the toys become hot is not always clear. Maybe it is based on the number of these items sold in the past few months. Or maybe it is based on the reactions that the toys received at the latest toy fairs. Whatever the criteria may be, here are some of these hot toys for the 2011 holiday season. Here are the hottest Christmas toys 2011.

The Air Swimmers toys or gadgets are predicted to be a hot seller this year. The concept is quite interesting and would probably interest older children. The air swimmers are remote controlled air balloons that are modeled into different animals. The first two out (and maybe the only two for that matter) are of a clown fish (think Finding Nemo fame) and a shark.

The air balloons are filled with helium and will float around a room. You have a remote control that can direct the movement of the animal as if it was swimming through water. Given that it is a fish and seems to be swimming the name Air swimmers is an appropriate moniker. Generally, reviews have been lukewarm on this toy.

The general gist is that it is hard to assemble and slightly delicate. I guess this is to be expected to some extent as it is an air balloon. However most reviews say that once they get it flying and play with it a bit it is great fun. This could be a toy that adults would enjoy playing with too. It is also more likely to be a boy toy.

Hot toys for girls this year are likely to be the Silly Hair Lalaloopsy dolls. These are the Lalaloopsy dolls with crazy hairstyles. Lalaloopsy dolls are a modern take on the old rag doll that kids used to play with in days gone by. The Silly hair dolls are the same dolls with different hairstyles. Most likely these dolls will be popular with fans of the dolls already.

Another doll set that should be popular with older girls is the Monster High dolls. These are fashion dolls with a Monster theme to them. The dolls were made popular by the youtube webisodes that were released about them.

Fans of the dolls will collect all sorts of items and this year it's likely to be the Lagoona Blue Hydration Station and the Three pack Fear Leading Squad. Basically these are the same doll characters just in different settings or with different clothes and accessories. It gives fans of the dolls more scenarios to play with them in. 

Lego sets are always a popular toy for Christmas and the holiday season and there is so much variety these days. The Ninjago Lightning Dragon Battle is predicted to be a hot Lego kit this year. It consists of a Battle Dragon, an Oriental Dojo and some other characters. It is based on the Ninjago story (ask your kids about it if you've never heard about before !). Another popular Lego kit is the Black Pearl. This is an 804 piece kit based on the ship that Jack Sparrow sails in in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
