These robot type toys are very popular these days. I guess they are a kind of pretend pet that fascinate kids because they seem to have a mind of their own and do funny things that make them laugh. This Fisher-Price Dance Star Mickey is no exception. It is aimed a younger children and would make an ideal Christmas toy for kids.

More on the Fisher-Price Disney Dance Star Mickey

So the toy is a 17 inch version of that famous cartoon mouse Mickey. He's probably the most famous creation from Walt Disney and in fact was his first character to really capture the hearts of kids over 80 years ago. This particular toy is very true to the original look of the Disney Mickey Mouse although I'm not sure about the striped under shirt. However the face is the same face that we all know and love.

Other than that, this Dance Star Mickey has been given a huge modernization. Basically, when you switch him on he will start to dance. And he doesn't dance to any old style music (unless you call the moonwalk old style). No, he dances to hip hop and techno style music. The music is emitted from the toy and he also speaks in that high pitched Mickey voice too.

The toy dances to the beat and he kind of encourages you to dance along too. So he will strut about on his legs and even do things like clap his hands together in time with the beat. This is very fast in the techno case. The hand waving and clapping encourages you to dance along too. His voice will say come, dance to the beat and stuff like that. In fact, he kind of raps in some cases.

There are 6 songs that Mickey can strut his stuff to. The Moonwalk is about the funniest thing out. He also has two games to play. They are dance type games. He encourages you to do a move like him in the Freeze game and also the Mickey says game. The Mickey says game is a bit like the popular Simon says game that you might play with young children.

The toy takes 6 batteries which is quite a lot. It is a fun toy that kids will get a kick out of. It's not the kind of toy that will be a firm favorite for years to come for your kids but I'm sure they will be amused and play along with it for 6 months or so.
