Cyber Monday Toy Discounts – Who Needs Queues
When You Can Shop Online !
Cyber Monday is the online equivalent of Black Friday (see Black
Friday Toy Discounts). As a result it is a fairly new term and it is thought to have come about in 2005. It
refers to the Monday after Black Friday. So this will be November 28 2011 this year. You can pick up some great
Cyber Monday Toy discounts at all the popular e-commerce stores and many physical stores have an online
presence too nowadays. So the big ones are Amazon, Toys R Us and even Walmart. Amazon is online only and really go
to town, so to speak, for Cyber Monday. Check out some of their deals on Christmas toys for
kids by clicking here. The other two have physical stores so you will find a
mix of deals to be found with these organizations both online and in store.
Why Cyber Monday ?
The idea of Cyber Monday has taken hold for a number of reasons.
One reason is that folks tend to take the Friday off these days and “make the bridge” with the weekend to have a
good break. This could be simply staying at home with the family and recuperating for the next couple of months
ahead or they may even get away from it all and go some place special.
Whatever they are doing, they don't want to be thinking of Christmas shopping or preparing for the holiday
season in any shape or form. So the Monday after the long weekend is the first day when they decide to do something
about the holiday season. It's the new Black Friday you could say. And since everyone is back at work (or should be
anyhow) the easiest way to do the Christmas shopping is online.
Online stores know this and have turned the whole thing into a marketing exercise. They heavily promote the big
day and in many cases many days before it. For instance, Amazon have a Black Friday month now. And it seems that
there is always a sale somewhere.
With this said, places like Amazon do make a genuine effort to offer discounted items and deals of the day.
These will be discounted items up to 90% in some rare cases but only for the day. It's probably to train people to
go to their store everyday.
Video Games are usually a popular item heavily discounted over the Black Friday week
Another reason that Cyber Monday has taken hold is that people find online shopping much more convenient than
fighting through hordes of people, looking for a parking space in a shopping mall car park and keeping the kids
happy as they traipse round stores that they aren't interested in. In short, it can get stressful.
Whereas, online shopping is quicker, easier and the items get delivered to your door. You can even get them gift
wrapped for Christmas and such like. Also videos and user reviews of the items online give people a pretty good
idea of which product to get now. And people are beginning to trust online shopping much more nowadays.
Without getting too philosophical, it seems that going into the city these days is for entertainment purposes
and not for shopping. Shopping is now an online pursuit and this will only increase in the coming years as the
online experience gets even better. Unless of course shopping is your form of entertainment !
